The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act – An Employer Perspective

 

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“the Act”) is sweeping legislation that will affect economic activity far beyond the one-sixth of the U.S. economy identified as the health care sector. The Act includes individual and firm-level requirements for health insurance coverage, extensive insurance industry regulations, creates new state-level programs and obligations, two new federal entitlement programs, and dozens of new federal boards and commissions.
